Meinan's ARIST-LATHE is the world's first veneer peeling machine in which a peeler log is driven not by spindles, but from its periphery by a plurality of drive wheels, for cutting veneer from the log.
Its outstanding capability of greatly improving the veneer yield by permitting cutting of even low grade logs is field-proven by installations of the Arist-Lathe in many veneer and plywood mills throughout the world.
The ARIST-LATHE has the following features:
- Logs of various qualities including hard logs and poor grades having natural defects such as splits, soft core and rotten spots can be peeled to veneer sheets successfully down to a small core diameter without spin-out.
- Veneer sheet can be peeled with an accurately controlled thickness.
- Drying efficiecy can be improved and the warping by drying reduced.
- Power consumption for veneer peeling is less than that by conventional lathes. In addition, the veneer production system incorporating the ARIST-LATHE requires only one operator.
- Veneer quality and veneer yield can be improved.
The ARIST-LATHE can be connected on its upstream to a log charger and on its downstream to Dream Clipper and automatic veneer stacker, thus forming a continuous and highly-efficient veneer production line.
Meinan's Dream Clipper is designed to make possible continuous and rapid clipping of veneer sheets.
The ARIST-LATHE thus connected in such a continuous system can provide the best resultu in veneer production.

In addition to the above AL-DC-4, models AL-DC-6 and AL-DC-8 for handling maximum log lengths 2,100 mm and 2,760 mm, respectively, are available.
This production line uses a veneer lathe having the same peripheral log driving system as the Arist-Lathe, but designed specifically to cut veneer from smalldiameter blocks which had been regarded improper for veneer conversion.
To premit efficient and economical cutting of small-diameter log, the lathe is equipped with an integral log charger having a unique mechanism for holding the log securely in cutting.

SCARF COMPOSER [SCF-4F}
This veneer composer is designed to scarf-joint veneer sheets of short widths along a parallel-to-grain line and then to cut the jointed sheet into the desired width sheets, for producing core stock for plywood and also veneer sheets for parallel laminated boards.
For splicing, each veneer sheet is scarved or cut bevel at its opposite sides and hotmelt glue is applied to the beveled surfaces to joint together any two adjacent veneer sheet.
The jointed veneer sheet is cut into sheets of a desired format size and delevered to the stacking station.
